Damaged and back ordered Range - LG


On 06/29 we purchased an LG refrigerator and gas range from Home Depot (HD). Both appliances were on sale and would be delivered in one week. They were also available at Lowes and Menard's. We chose HD because we thought they had the best extended warranty. When we went to the register to pay we presented the cashier with a military id for a 10% discount. We were told that the discount does not apply to sale items. We mentioned that HD advertises price matching and that Lowes will accept the id and apply the discount to sale items so HD needs to stand by their advertising and price match Lowes. We were told that this was a corporate policy and there is no way for it to be over ridden. Even though we considered the discount when we chose the appliances, we went ahead and said forget about it since we didn't want to spend the day running around town and possibly not being able to get the appliances by the next week.

On 07/06 both appliances arrived as scheduled. The fridge was fine but the range was damaged beyond use, the door would not open on it and the entire unit was bowed. We declined delivery and were told we would get a call within 24 hours to reschedule. Since 07/06 was on a Saturday we knew we would not hear anything until Monday.

Late Monday afternoon we still did not hear anything and followed up with HD. After various attempts to get someone to help because every time we were transferred to the right department we were disconnected. We were then told delivery would not be until 07/20. We stated this was unacceptable, we have paid for the appliances upfront and kept our part of the purchase agreement and the range being damaged was not our fault nor in our control. The situation is their problem and we as consumers should not have to be affected by their problems.

We received a second call stating the range was on back order and would not be in until 08/01 and we would be scheduled for delivery on 08/03. We recently received a third call stating the range will not be in until 08/27 so this means we won't receive it until 08/31.

We do not want to cancel the order since the range was on sale and we are not willing to put out the extra money for another brand that is comparable. We did extensive research prior to purchasing and were very excited about the LG appliances. We are now getting more disappointed by the customer service we are getting. As far as HD is concerned, we will never make another purchase with them. They handed us off to the delivery company and LG once the initial delivery was made and did not make good on their advertising.
